Move your information off U.S.-based servers
Think about where your writing, art, music, and personal data will be safe.

We're at the "whatever this stage is" of Whatever It Is.
It's always a good idea to back up your digital life, and to take it a step further, some people are moving their important stuff off U.S.-based servers.
For example, Assigned Media says they're trying to protect themselves from
"the looming possibility of illegal, unconstitutional attacks on our speech as trans journalists. Project 2025 defines trans speech as pornography and calls for pornographers to be banned. We take the threats in that radical document deadly seriously."
A couple ideas:
- Donate to Assigned Media and What the Trans?! This morning, they had a joint fundraiser. I was going to share it, but it closed automatically when they reached their modest goal. It took only an hour; so nice to see that enthusiasm. Nonetheless, imagine that trans journalists didn't have to open a fundraiser every time they needed to take a critical step to protect the integrity of their reporting or the safety of their people, or even just when they wanted to upgrade their websites for more ordinary reasons. Please continue to support these outlets directly at Assigned Media (newsletter) or What the Trans?! (Patreon).
- Consider moving your own digital life somewhere where your writing, art, music, and personal data will be safe. Just think about that idea for now. Sit with it. I'll look for suggestions of which tech companies can best help with this.
